Serval

(Leptailurus serval)

 

Servals are medium sized wild cats with a tawny, black spotted coats, and a white belly. Their long necks and long legs allow them to see over savannah grasslands. Servals are native to Central and Southern Africa.

Distribution: Central and Southern Africa.

Habitat: Forests, savannah, grassland, wetlands.

Diet: Rodents, birds, reptiles, frogs, insects.

Appearance: Tawny coat with black spots and a white belly.

Size: Approximately 54cm to 62cm. Weigh between 9 and 18kg.

Lifespan: Up to 10 years in the wild. Up to 20 years in captivity.

Least Concern.
